President Vučić receives credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić received today letters of credence from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation, Urs Schmid, to whom he wished a warm welcome and a successful diplomatic post in Belgrade.

President Vučić and Ambassador Schmid agreed that political dialogue and economic cooperation between the two countries are on the rise. President Vučić expressed hope that Ambassador Schmid, like his predecessors, would dedicate a significant part of his activities to attracting Swiss investments to the Serbian market, given the favourable investment conditions.

Ambassador Schmid said he came to Serbia with great enthusiasm to work on strengthening comprehensive cooperation, especially in the field of economy, and confirmed that the Swiss Parliament had extended the programme of cooperation with our country.

President Vučić thanked for the help that Switzerland, as a country with one of the best educational systems, provides to Serbia in establishing dual education. In that regard, he expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with Ursula Renold from the Swiss Economic Institute. He also emphasised the importance of Swiss assistance in establishing science and technology parks in Belgrade, Niš and Čačak.

President Vučić thanked Switzerland for its support for Serbia's European path, which Ambassador Schmid expressed on this occasion as well.

The two interlocutors also discussed the situation in the region, as well as the global challenges imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, especially for the economy. President Vučić thanked for the help that Switzerland sent to our country as support in the fight against COVID-19.
