TRAVEL DOCUMENT
TRAVEL DOCUMENT
If you have lost your travel document, report its loss to the police and request a certificate of the loss report. With this certificate, contact the General Consulate of the Republic of Serbia, which will, after conducting the procedure to determine identity and citizenship, issue a travel document for return to the Republic of Serbia.
Required documentation for issuing a travel document for adults:
- A document proving identity – Serbian national ID card or driver’s license;
- Police confirmation of the reported passport loss (Verlustanzeige), not older than 3 months;
- A statement about the circumstances under which the passport was lost (to be completed at the General Consulate);
- A completed application form for the issuance of a travel document (available at the General Consulate);
- Two color photographs, passport size (3.5 x 4.5 cm).
When submitting a request for a travel document for a minor, the presence of both parents with valid Serbian passports or ID cards is mandatory. If one of the parents is a foreign citizen, they must bring their national ID card or passport.
To issue a travel document for a newborn, it is first necessary to register the child’s birth. Information on the required documentation for birth registration can be found on our website, in the section: Consular Services / Civil Status / Birth Registration. The presence of both parents with Serbian passports or ID cards is mandatory, as well as two color photographs of the child, passport size (3.5 x 4.5 cm).
Note: The photo must show only the child — no other person should be visible; the child’s eyes must be open. The travel document is valid for one-way travel — to the Republic of Serbia. To return to Switzerland, you must apply for a passport and collect it in Serbia.
