Celebration of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia in Zurich
The Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Zurich organized a ceremonial reception on the occasion of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia on 15 February 2026, in the representative hall “Vogtei Herrliberg” in Herrliberg.
The ceremony was held in a spirit of unity and mutual respect, with more than 200 distinguished guests in attendance, including members of the diplomatic and consular corps, representatives of Swiss institutions, numerous members of the Serbian community, representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church, cultural and artistic associations, business associations, students, writers, and other prominent individuals.
A special ceremonial tone was given to the event by the choir “Bogorodičin,” whose dignified and inspired performance of the national anthems of the Republic of Serbia and the Swiss Confederation brought a strong emotional resonance and a sense of pride among those present. This distinguished choir, known for nurturing spiritual and traditional music, once again confirmed the high artistic standard and the importance of cultural creativity within our community in the diaspora through its professional approach and harmonized polyphonic performance.
Following the performance of the anthems, the Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Zurich, Mihajlo Šaulić, addressed the guests. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of commemorating Statehood Day as a symbol of freedom, statehood, and Serbia’s historical continuity, highlighting the importance of preserving cultural heritage and strengthening ties with the homeland.
Throughout the event, short presentations were shown on a video screen regarding the specialized world exhibition “EXPO 2027,” which will be held in Belgrade, as well as a presentation on Serbia’s economic and tourism potential.
The importance of fostering friendship between Serbia and Switzerland was reaffirmed in the year marking 110 years of bilateral relations, as well as the preservation of Serbian cultural and national identity in the diaspora, which remains one of the priorities of the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Zurich.
